Vans WWA Wakeboard National Championship Indianapolis, IN (August 19, 2004) -- The Vans WWA Wakeboard National Championships began the first day of competition with seven amateur divisions competing for National Championships on Thursday at the Precedent Office Park in Indianapolis. This event is the second of three stops in the Vans Triple Crown of Wakeboarding, one of the biggest wakeboarding series in the sport with all the world's top wakeboarders expected to compete this weekend in Indianapolis. Notable names competing today include Jeff Barton, former editor of WakeBoarding magazine. Barton competed in the Masters division on Thursday, earning a spot in Friday's final. Barton has won both the Masters division National and World Championship in past years. Other top riders competing on Thursday include Denise Parris who took the top spot in the Amateur Women's Semifinal. Matt Vermillion won the semifinal heat in the Veterans division. In the Men's I division, Ben Carley, Colin Ryan, Chad Reese, Jimmy Trask and Mike Schwenne won Semifinal heats. Miles Armstrong and Billy Garcia won the Masters division Semifinal heats.
