Pro Wakeboard Tour Ushers in Summer Fun in Orlando April 28-May 1

Orlando, FL (March 29, 2005) -- While the rest of the country sees its first taste of spring, Orlando will be filled with thoughts of summer as the watersports season kicks off with the return of the MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour, the premier event in action watersports, April 28-May 1 at Orlando WaterSports Complex.

The four-day event is one of the largest of its kind in the world with close to 200 pro and amateur wakeboarding competitors descending on Orlando. The world’s top wakeboarding athletes, many of whom reside in and around Orlando, will be on hand to kick off the new season. Look for 2005 Pro Wakeboard Tour Season Champion Parks Bonifay to be on top of his game, though he will be challenged by the rest of the pro men including 2004 X Games Champion Phillip Soven and three-time X Games Champion Danny Harf.

In the pro women’s competition all eyes will be on Dallas Friday the 2004 ESPN ESPY’s Female Action Sports Athlete of the Year, who won almost every major women’s event in 2004. She will be challenged by 2004 Indmar Performance Award-winner Emily Copeland.

The SeaDoo watercraft Pro Wakeskate series is also on tap for Orlando. Last year Orlando resident Phillip Basino burst on the scene to take the SeaDoo series champion as the top wakeskater on tour. Basino will be challenged by the top riders in the world, all vying for the SeaDoo title.

After opening in Orlando the Pro Wakeboard Tour will continue throughout North America with four additional stops including Ft. Worth, Texas May 21-22; Reno, Nevada, June 3-5; Kelowna, British Columbia Canada, July 8-10 and the final event in Portland, Oregon July 30-31.

The MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour is a five-event circuit organized by World Sports & Marketing of Orlando, Florida.
