Air Nautique WWA Wakeboard National Championship Pleasant Prairie, WI – This is one of the most exciting times of the year in the world of sports, and southern Wisconsin will be part of the excitement when the world’s top action sports stars, fresh off success August 6 at the X Games in Los Angeles, make their way to Lake Andrea in Pleasant Prairie for the Air Nautique WWA Wakeboard National Championships August 24-28. 2005 X Games Men’s Wakeboarding Champion Danny Harf and Women’s Champion Dallas Friday are also set to compete at the Wakeboard National Championships in Pleasant Prairie. Both Harf and Friday won their titles live in front of a national television at the X Games. Harf and Friday will be joined by an all-star class of wakeboarding’s elite for the five-day event. Also coming to compete will be the world’s NO. 1 ranked male rider, Josh Sanders along with defending men’s pro WWA National Champion Tino Santori. Friday is also the defending women’s National and World title-holder, and she will be intent on defending both of those titles in 2005. The largest wakeboarding event in the world, the 15th annual Air Nautique WWA Wakeboard National Championship is being held at a new location in 2005, Lake Andrea at Prairie Springs Park, just outside Milwaukee, WI in Pleasant Prairie, WI August 24-28, 2005. The WWA Wakeboard National Championship has one of the strongest traditions in all of action sports, dating back to 1990. The event features close to 300 top wakeboarders from around the country in 13 age divisions. Competitors range from 5 to 50 years of age and come from as far away as California and as close as Wisconsin. The top two divisions, the pro men and women’s divisions attract world-famous action sports athletes. The WWA Wakeboard Nationals is one of the premier events in all of action sports with big time money to the pro winners and big time exposure from the television crews taping the event. In the past the event has drawn in excess of 10,000 spectators. Event organizers hope for more of the same from the huge base of watersports enthusiasts in Wisconsin. “The love of wakeboarding in this area puts Wisconsin at the top of the list for an event,” said Sean Dishman Sales and Marketing Director for World Sports & Marketing, the organizing body for the WWA Wakeboard National Championship. “Seeing fans that are passionate about this sport is really exciting, and a testament to the adventurous spirit in the Midwest that has helped the sport of wakeboarding grow so quickly.” The WWA Wakeboard National Championship is a world-renowned event created by the World Wakeboard Association. The event is organized by World Sports & Marketing of Orlando, Florida. Competitors will be pulled by the Correct Craft Super Air Nautique wakeboard boat.
