Air Nautique Pan American Wakeboard Championships Sees Largest Day Yet Orlando, FL – Friday was the busiest day of competition of the first three days of the inaugural Air Nautique Pan American Wakeboard Championships at Orlando WaterSports Complex. Nearly 100 riders in seven divisions competed on the day. Friday was also the first day the professional competitors began to battle for the Pan American Championships, bringing out some top local names including Orlando native and Pro Women’s competitor Dallas Friday. While most of the action on Friday was qualifying for the weekend, two divisions held their finals on the day, awarding two Pan American Championships. In the Open Men’s division Lockey Price of Canada won the Pan American Championship. Jason Clark of Lake Oswego, Oregon finished second. Alex Brown of Mt. Dora, Florida finished third and Justin Savich of Riverview, Florida finished fourth. In the Open Women’s division Heather Johnson of Orlando, Florida is the Pan American Champion. Courtney Dutson of Orlando finished second and Kayla Chojnacki of Pompano, Florida finished third. Much of the talk of the day centered on Dallas Friday and whether an ankle injury suffered early in September would hurt her chances during the Pan American Championships. Friday showed no ill effects of the injury on the day, winning her Pro Women’s Quarterfinal Heat. Maeghan Major won the other Pro Women’s Quarterfinal Heat to advance to the semifinals. Other notables moving on the next round in Pro Women’s competition on Friday include Emily Copeland Durham, Andrea Fountain, Tara Hamilton, Lauren Loe, Cathy Williams and Laura Lohrmann. In Pro Wakeskate action there were five Quarterfinal heats on Friday. Austin Hair, Reed Hansen, Brian Grubb, George Daniels and Brandon Thomas all won their heats on Friday to advance to the next round. The Air Nautique Pan American Wakeboard Championships is a world-renowned event. The event is organized by World Sports & Marketing of Orlando, Florida and Sanctioned by USA Wakeboard. Competitors will be pulled by the Correct Craft Super Air Nautique wakeboard boat.
