Individual Liberties: We speak out on censorship and academic freedom through testimony and public forums. Family and Equity Issues: At the national, state, and local levels, we take action on such issues as child care, pay equity, and preteen self esteem. Financial Support: The AAUW Educational Foundation awards over $1.5 million each year to women for graduate education, community projects, and international academic exchange; LHC AAUW contributes at least $25 per member to the Educational Foundation. The Legal Advocacy Fund helps women in lawsuits for sexual harassment in or sexual discrimination by universities. Public Policy:
We study issues, observe the Legislature, and lobby for priorities that
are vital to AAUW. A statewide Women's Legislative Day is
held each February in Phoenix, with six cosponsors. Our annual dues were $48 in 1998-99. State dues and Association dues are changing; there will be a small increase for 1999-2000 which will be announced at summer convention. Our membership year and fiscal year begin July l and end June 30; renewal dues are to be paid by July l. Contact the membership vice president for more information
